First of all, after endless teasing by my friends, I feel the need to set the record straight! A decorative pin is a “brooch” even though it sounds like “broach”—a quite different word. Although some dictionaries now accept the latter spelling for jewelry, you risk looking ignorant to many readers if you use that spelling. I will admit, I used broach at first too, but it really is brooch!
Vintage is all the rage nowadays. As long as a piece is still beautiful and can relate into the current fashion trends then, it’s not considered old – it’s vintage! Vintage is not just for clothing. Haute couture gowns are not just the ones taking center stage here; jewellery also has its own beautiful niche when it comes to the world of vintage. Vintage necklaces, rings, earrings and especially brooches are getting renewed popularity. Even young jewelers are creating vintage inspired pieces.
Brooches are probably the ones that are most appreciated when it comes to vintage style. No matter what era these brooches come from or are inspired by, they still continue to be very beautiful items. They have captivated the eye once and they are now renewing their claim to elegance.
