Diamond rushes in the 1800s in South Africa and the sacrifices our obsession with these stones has called for over the centuries, and continue today, had consequences.

Because of the exploitation of lands and peoples, a Fair Trade Diamond and Jewelry Association was established in 2007. Chevy Chase Jewelry supports this organization and follows their guidelines in buying jewelry.

To learn more about the Fair Trade Diamond and Jewelry Association, please visit: http://www.diamonds.net/fairtrade/About.aspx

Chevy Chase Jewelry does not purchase or sell anything from the country of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) because of the gross human rights violations that occur daily under the military regime.  Until Human Rights Watch finds substantial evidence of a radical change of rule, Chevy Chase Jewelry will not sell their products.
